The Trials and Tribulations of Being Alex

In this emotional and turbulent novel ‘The Trials and Tribulations of Being Alex', the reader sees the world through the eyes of seventeen-year-old Alex Lennon, a boy who has an immense tale to tell. My first novel, set in the village of Woolacombe, begins with an Alex confused about his sexuality, feeling he has no friends and remembering a few faces from his past. But with the help of new friend Maxi, Alex sets out on a quest to improve his life and his new friend’s for the better, uncovering some uncomfortable truths along the way to his destiny. The story self-consciously addresses the emotive notions of good times and bad times whilst presenting Alex as a boy who aspires, throughout all the comedy and tragedy, for a new world that he can call his own. The true meaning of ‘trials and tribulations' runs throughout this carefully crafted narrative.
