Blubeard is a fairy tale by the French author Charles Perrault (1628-1703). It was first published in 1697; then it was translated in English by Andrew Lang (1844-1912) in 1889.

Bluebeard is a wealthy aristocrat, feared and shunned because of his blue beard. When Bluebeard visits one of his neighbours and asks to marry one of her two daughters, the girls are terrified. Eventually he persuades the younger daughter to visit him...
