What are the chances of thirteen-year-old Kayla and her younger brother becoming space adventurers? Pretty good, actually, because their inventor uncle is channeling alien technology and has just converted his Victorian house into a spaceship.

A test run to another state, perhaps? No, the uncle doesn't believe in halfway measures. The kids enjoy breakfast on the moon, then it's on to Mars, where they're accosted by alien space pirates. The pirates want the house, but the uncle talks them into making off with the latest Mars rover instead.

Then things turn strange. Arrested for cruising space without a license plate, the group is sentenced to community service on the planet Badya-badya. In order to win their freedom, they must find out why the planet's intelligent trees and singing balloon creatures are facing extinction.

Bad aliens are why, and the baddest are the bloodthirsty Gromm. What chance do a group of puny humans have against a battle cruiser filled with monsters that don’t just kill you, they eat you? Maybe before they kill you.

House in Space is a middle grade sci-fi adventure novel that combines action and humor. The completed manuscript is 51,000 words/288 pages in length.
