What Do Police Officers Do

Ryan Ehalt, Jonathan Farrell

What Do Police Officers Do

language ( March 9, 2019)
This book was written by a currently serving police officer in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. His inspiration for the story came from the numerous positive encounters he has had with children and their parents during his 15 year career in law enforcement. It tells the story of two police officers meeting a little girl and her daddy in a coffee shop. The theme of crime and consequences is presented, avoiding the traditional idea of 'good guys' versus 'bad guys' and instead replacing it with the concept of 'nice things' versus 'not nice things."

The book shows police officers as being approachable and more than willing to help people, not only in their roles as police officers, but also as community members who consistently go above and beyond to serve. The author hopes that law enforcement members who read this book to their kids can relate to the story. Each one will have their own positive police encounter stories that if they written into books would fill libraries.
