After what seemed like a normal night-at-the movies, followed by one of their famous sleepovers, the Gardner kids and three of their friends find themselves off on another mystery adventure. Owen Kane’s search for more information about his favorite author inspires this time-travel journey for answers that might hopefully help him become a famous author someday. At the same time, Susie’s BFF Sarah Kwon is on another mission...one that will help her come to terms with a family crisis. Their visit to a foreign land is perplexing and yet very familiar; they meet princes and a queen and learn how more than five-hundred years of history has shaped their present-day lives in America. When the children find themselves surrounded by the Royal Guard and being evacuated from a palace ballroom, they question whether they will ever “see the light of day” again. But through it all, the five friends lean on each other for support, as well as their royal hosts, in an effortto find a way home.
