Illusions

How had I gotten here? Running from allies and enemies alike, I had hidden in those mountains for weeks. Now, I can see them from my bedroom window in Clementshire, the school for the elite children of Paradise. No longer am I known as Calla Thorne, escaped Divine experiment, traitor, and Rebel. I am Briar Rosenguard, the withdrawn bookworm charge of Madame Adelaide Connelly who had been kind enough to support me with an Aegis to attend her school. My time is running out as a regular human. The Divine serum is changing me, making me have thoughts and impulses that are not my own. I have mere weeks left before my mind is no longer mine, and I will no longer be able to choose who I hurt and who I protect. Under the guise of doing 'research' for my sans pareil– the Divines’ way of weeding out candidates who they believe aren’t capable -I will gather the untold secrets of the Divine serum and send them with one who will deliver them into capable hands. I only hope that I will not lose my mind to the Divine serum...or my heart to one that I am not sure I can trust. I am not sure who I am anymore, or what my purpose is. I suppose when the illusions finally come to an end and all the cards have been played, the choices I make will be what defines me.
