A Tale of Two Tails

eBook (Stover Creek Publications March 16, 2014) , 1 edition
It seems every dog breed has a “rescue group” who will take an unwanted dog and help find a place for it to live; and animal shelters try to place dogs (and cats) in loving homes, rather than putting them down. Greyhounds, who work for their living, also have rescue groups to help them find their “forever home” once they are of no value to the race track. Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) is one such place here in the Dallas area. When I decided to add a dog back into my life, I had never heard of GALT. In fact, I had never given adopting a greyhound a thought. I had lived in the Pensacola FL area that does have a Greyhound Race Track, and I had seen news clips about the plight of the retired greyhound. But – adopt a grown big dog? No, I’m a small dog person who wants to start with a puppy and raise it “my way”. However, after some prompting from my late husband, Don, I looked into the potential of adopting a large, adult dog – a Greyhound. And, so “A Tale of Two Tales” was written. It is my experiences of adopting not one, but ultimately two large adult dogs and loving every minute of it.
