THE TEXAN SERIES: THE TEXAN STAR AND THE TEXAS SCOUTS features two young readers' novels about the Texas Revolution of 1835 and 1836. THE TEXAN STAR tells the exciting history of the early days of the revolution, beginning in Mexico with the treacherous imprisonment of Stephen F. Austin, the rise of Santa Anna and his attempt to disarm the Texans and leave them powerless. It culminates in the rebellion of the Texans, and their capture, in the face of great odds, of San Antonio, the seat of the Mexican power in the north. THE TEXAN SCOUTS tells of the second phase in the revolution; the coming of Santa Anna with an overwhelming force to Texas, the massacre of surrendering Texans at Goliad and the runaway scrape. Yet the period of gloom is relieved by the last stand of Crockett, Bowie, and their famous comrades at the Alamo.
