Flowers on the Oregon Trail

Driven by manifest destiny, seventeen-year-old Clara Hayes, Mama, and Papa join a wagon train to the Oregon Territory in 1846. Ever the dutiful, obedient daughter, Clara is given one command; stay away from the Briggs family. The decades-long feud between the two families comes to a head when Clara attracts the attention of Elijah Briggs. Clara becomes acquainted with Elijah through clandestine meetings under the night sky. In addition to navigating a journey fraught with danger, Clara must come to terms with her growing affection for Elijah and what it means for her relationship with her parents.

Tracing themes of love and family in the same vein as Romeo and Juliet, this novella explores a young pioneer woman coming of age and finding love against the backdrop of a perilous journey on the Oregon Trail.

About this Series
Love in the Garden of Yesterday explores romance against a backdrop of various time periods and historical events. Each entry in the series follows a different heroine as she navigates the world (and relationships) around her. Despite the differences in setting and motivation, one constant remains the same: love.
