Castle on the Hill

Imagine living like a king, in a real castle. What would you do all day long? How would you eat and where would you sleep? Today Mayleen and Walton are going on a field trip to the old castle. The castle is high in the hills. It was built a very long time ago. "I think it was built by a real king," says Walton. "He lived there with his queen and he ruled all the lands." p2- Mayleen and Walton arrive at the castle. It is not the biggest castle ever built, but it does look grand sitting at the top of the hill. There is a long walk up the driveway and through the grand archway. "Welcome to our castle," says the guide. "Please follow me and I will explain all about life in the old days." p3- The guide takes Mayleen and Walton to the kitchens. In one room there is a big roaring fire along one wall, and a hole in the ceiling above. "All the cooking was done over the big fire," explains the guide. "The hole in the ceiling allowed the heat and smoke to go out." Don't stand too close to the fire Mayleen!
