This monkey has a very unique name. Why is it called Emperor?

The Emperor Tamarin is a monkey with a moustache (that’s why it looks so much different from the usual monkeys). In fact, it’s called the Emperor Tamarin because of its moustache. Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany had such a long moustache, and the monkey was named after him.

Compared to other monkeys, the Emperor Tamarin is quite small. They measure about 9 to 10 inches in length (this is their head and body measurement). Their tails are long, however, and can measure anywhere from 13 to 16 inches – so their tails are even longer than their bodies.
