A Short Story In Verse For Young Readers (Age 10 and Up) And Adults That Teaches The Basics Of Economics (Suppy/Demand). When our youngest son reached 10 years old, he still loved reading books written in rhyme. However, there were none written for his age group – all were targeted for the early ages (4 thru 8) of child development. He wanted a more sophisticated story, but still written in verse or rhyming couplets. Not being able to find such a children’s book for him, I decided to write one that he could read and enjoy – thus “Blue Cherry Pie." Looking back, I think that our son was not unusual; that many children his age miss reading books in verse, and that it can be an easy way to introduce subjects that are age-appropriate for them.
