Golden Eagle
Diskette
(Cambridge University Press July 18, 1985)
In Golden Eagle the user is asked to run a Scottish wildlife reserve with the object of doubling the Golden Eagle population. Poachers, tourists and egg stealers are some of the environmental hazards, and as chief warden the user must allocate the limited staff of rangers so as to counteract these hazards as much as possible. Which hazards are the priorities will depend on the season, and there are occasional pieces of good luck (a donation from a Japanese zoo) or bad luck (disease). What makes the program a particularly useful simulation is that the user is unlikely to be successful in doubling the population without keeping accurate records of the ranger allocation, and learning from past successes and failures.
