Kiera wakes the morning after the Vampyrus Ball to discover that Luke has left Hallowed Manor and taken Mrs. Payne with him on a quest set by the mysterious client. Finding herself alone and free to do as she pleases, Kiera heads into the Ragged Cove in search of old friends in the hope she might discover why Potter had secretly attended the Vampyrus Ball.
To her horror Kiera soon learns that her husband is heading into a trap—a trap that might leave Luke dead and Kiera the prime suspect in his murder…
