Differentiated book• It has a historical context with research of the time-Irish Fairy Tales is a count of ten Irish folk tales by Irish author James Stephens. English illustrator Arthur Rackham provided interior artwork, including numerous black-and-white illustrations and sixteen color plates. The stories unfold in a wooded, medieval Ireland filled with hunters, warriors, kings, and fairies greater than life. Many stories relate to Fianna and her captain, Fionn mac Uail, from the Fenian Cycle of Irish mythology. The book was first published by Macmillan and Company in 1920. It is one of Stephens' best-known works. Finnian, the Abbot of Moville, travels to Tuan mac Cairill's house and forces Tuan to admit it. The abbot convinces Tuan of the truth of the Gospel. Finnian asks Tuan to describe his past. Tuan reveals that he is centuries old and was one of the original settlers in Ireland.Tuan passed out in a violent storm and woke up to find himself transformed into a powerful deer. Tuan goes through several lives: like a deer, a boar, a hawk and a salmon. Like salmon, Tuan is caught, roasted, and eaten by the Queen of Ireland. He is reborn as his son. James Stephens (February 9, 1880 [1] - December 26, 1950) was an Irish novelist and poet.
