Ayla doesn't believe in things that go bump in the night, and nothing can convince her otherwise. Not her grandfather's insistence that he's a druid. Not the spine-tingling stories of witchcraft and dark magic that her best friend spins. Monsters just don't exist. Period.
Then she gets 'the text'. It demands she visit an abandoned Gothic cathedral in the middle of town.
At midnight. Alone.
And since it's from that best friend who disappeared without a trace years earlier, she knows she has no choice. Sarah is in trouble.
There's no way Ayla is going to let her long-lost friend face danger alone. That's not how she's hard-wired. She knows to expect the unexpected when she gets to the church. She prepares danger.
