Against the background of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, their love plays out but unforeseen events complicate matters and the young age of the central character hinders him from creating a future and instead leads him to recreating the past he wished to escape from. "After Dawn" is a novel for everyone but especially for adolescents and vulnerable people everywhere. Its style is literary without being intrusive.
