[A little stats]
In 2012 in the US, roughly 24 thousands children in foster care who turned 18 were let go into the world without "housing, financial assistance or emotional support" (CNN).
What's even worse is that numerous non-orphaned children continue to suffer from a lack of attention and care from their parents and live just as if they were orphans or with no guardians. Some of these children end up with depression that can affect them into their adulthood and in the worst case trigger a viscous cycle of non-caring parents for future generations.
[About this book]
This fictitious story attempts to speak to the unique tragedy that orphaned two siblings, 12 and 13 years old, and recounts the numerous trials and tribulations those siblings must endure from fleeing the city’s orphanage to surviving on their own in the streets with no experience, or clear idea of the world around them.
