Book Text:

It’s lunch time and Mummy is making food for Max and his friend Izzy.
Izzy and Max are so excited! They hope lunch is something yummy, like chips or pizza.
Lunch is ready. It’s a big bowl of orange carrots.
Izzy and Max are shocked. This is not what they were hoping to eat.
They are not happy and refuse to eat their carrots.
Mummy munches on a carrot. She tells them that carrots are very yummy.
Izzy won’t try the carrots. She thinks they are gross.
Mummy hopes that Max will try some carrots.
Max is stubborn and will not try the carrots. He wants to know if there is any other food.
Luckily, there is some other food for lunch. Mummy also has some tasty green peas!
Mummy offers the peas to Izzy but it seems that she won’t eat these either.
Max looks at the peas in disgust. There is no way he will eat them.
The two burst into tears. They are hungry and demand something nice to eat.
Mummy looks at the peas and carrots. She has an idea of how to make them look tasty.
Mummy shuffles the vegetables from one plate to the other.
Max and Izzy are scared. They have no idea what Mummy could be preparing for lunch now.
So that’s what Mummy was doing. She was making a cute smiling vegetable face!
Max and Izzy carefully look at the carrots and peas. Maybe the veggies will taste as fun as they look?
Max is ready to try a carrot. He thinks they will be yummy now.
Max thought the carrot tasted great. Izzy is now happy to try one too.
Mummy is focusing hard as she shuffles around plates and veggies.
Ta-da! Mummy has made more cute vegetable faces, using carrots, peas, borccoli and green beans.
Now they have a taste for vegetables, Izzy and Max are so excited to eat their lunch.
If they’re still hungry, Mummy has made lots more tasty veggies for them to enjoy.
But there is no need. Izzy and Max loved their lunch and are now stuffed full of delicious vegetables.
