The Mourning Doves

This interesting and educational primary reader follows the lives and adventures of Charlie and Dovie, a pair of mourning doves who meet and nest and develop a family. As the young reader follows the dove's interactions with one another, he will acquire new vocabulary, learn factual information about doves, and have the opportunity to develop and improve social skills as he observes and considers the words and behaviors of the members of the dove family. An interactive section at the back of the book provides "Do You Remember" questions to check comprehension for each chapter and "What Do You Think" questions to encourage judgmental evaluations by the reader. It is recommended for 1st-3rd grades.
