The Ploppy People are the most ruthless creatures on earth. Living in the mountain they can look down at the town below them. It is rumoured that they feed off the living, and sometimes the dead, and sometimes it's the other way round. Another rumour is that they eat the townies in the town, except on Mondays. Another rumour is that they talk by dancing and gesturing, although it could be the other way round.
An inventor called Marmalade lives in a nice little house on top of a hill near the town. Which is lucky, otherwise Spud -- not the town's idiot, his words not mine --would have forgotten why he'd climbed up the hill to Marmalade's house in the first place. This time Spud banged six times on Marmalade's front door. He was very, very frightened. The Ploppy People were coming down from the mountain to eat he said to Marmalade. And we all know what they eat he said.
Can Marmalade save the day? Can he stop the Ploppy People from entering the townies? Can Spud stand up in the mud without tumbling over?
This story is for the age group of 6-8 years. Unless you child is really tired then maybe nine years old. A bright child with bright parents could possibly manage reading it and understand it at the grand age of 5. I hope you enjoy the story. Thank you.
