A sleety rain apped at the window. Peggy Parker listened a moment, then snuggled deeper beneath her blankets. "No use, Peggy darling." Her mother's voice sounded muffled and far away from the other twin . "Ducking under won't make it any easier to get up." Peggy pushed back the covers far enough to stretch forth a hand. "But my gadgets will inake it easier!" she exclaimed. With a jerk of the cord which hung over the head of her bed, she released a spring that lowered the window. "It still works, Mummie," she burst forth triumphantly, "in spite of the freezing weather!" "What a wonder child I have! I only hope you don't break a pane and expose us to the cold permanently. I'm sure Mr. Hodges would never get it fixed in less than a month."
