Captains Courageous tells the tale of boy who goes from being a spoiled brat to surviving on the Atlantic as a fisherman. Harvey, the main character falls overboard of a steamship and is rescued by Captain Troop. Captain doesn’t listen to young Harvey as he pleads the captain to return to port. When his first tactic doesn’t work, Harvey tries to bribe the captain with his families’ wealth, but Captain Troop again refuses. Harvey resigns himself to try and survive on the boat. He learns to master the art of being a fisherman, but will he be able to reunite with his family? Will he truly learn what the value of a good day at work? Rudyard Kipling was a prolific English writer who is widely considered to be one of the greatest authors in all of literature. Kipling wrote classics in many genres including the Jungle Books, Just So Stories, Kim, and The Man Who Would Be King.
