The true first edition of Mary Norton's, author of The Borrowersseries, first book. The UK edition is 1945. Printed in two columns per page. Illustrated in color and black and white by Waldo Pierce. A charming book about "three English children who are introduced to magic through the medium of the extraordinary Miss Price and take to it, understandably enough, like ducks to water." Of course, their aunt doesn't believe their story and sends them back to London - but Paul still has the bed-knob. The book is a little worn at the bottom edge and a trifle shaken, previous owner's name as part of a gift note dated Christmas 1955 is written in pencil on the title page. The light green dust jacket spine is sunned as is the top edge for about an inch down, a few minor nicks and chips. not paginated. paper-covered boards with front panel illustration repeating the dust jacket, dust jacket. small 4to.
