His Brother's Keeper: Christian Stewardship

Paperback (Kincaid Books Nov. 18, 2015)

The alternate title for His Brother's Keeper is Christian Stewardship The book deals with the conflicts faced by two friends on opposite sides during a protracted strike in the iron mines as winter comes on and the mining families begin to truly suffer. How do the two of them manage to remain friends as the owners and the miners refuse to come to common ground? Eric must face the fact that the miners have been radicalized and no longer listen to his reasoned leadership of the strike. Stuart suddenly has control of the largest mining company, so he has enormous resources, but how can he best use it to help the miners, and how can he convince the other owners to recognize that the miners are deserving of recognition as humans and not mere tools for producing ore.

The scenes in the mining region are based upon events which occurred during the great strike among the iron miners in the summer of 1895, and which were witnessed by the author.

The Salvation Army songs are exact copies of songs actually sung by the army.
