In the Preface, Mayor LaGuardia ("The Little Flower") encourages youngsters to "invite Emerson, Twain or Cooper" into their home" reminding them "that you pick your books like your friends" and "if you read trashy books, in all likelihood, you will have trashy friends" and other words of wisdom (?). That small Preface makes this book worth having in itself. Classic Mark Twain tale of the adventures of Tom Sawyer.
