Dot’s Shoes, Helping Others, Book Two of Dot’s Shoes series, finds Konrad and Axel spending the night with Oma and Opa, their grandparents. They hope Dot will leave small gifts or candy canes in her old wooden shoes under Oma’s Christmas tree, but what they really hope for is catching Dot. No one has seen her yet. It makes Dot happy to see how excited the children are when they receive surprises from her. After Opa reads the book of Dot’s Shoes, they fall asleep only to find themselves in a village similar to Dot’s village described in the book Opa just read to them. There’s a toy shoppe and the toymaker is busy making toys for children to find in their stocking on Christmas Eve. Konrad and Axel gladly help him paint toys and learn the valuable lesson of “Helping Others Is a Great Gift.” Dot’s Shoes remind us the magic of Christmas is all around. The gifts of kindness, sharing and helping others, are the greatest gifts of all and they last all year-round.
