Taken from his home in Africa at the tender age of ten years old, Jomo is forced to toil for six years on a cotton plantation in Georgia. He finds the strength to break free while being tied to a post for a whipping and discovers a mysterious light in a cave being used by the Underground Railroad. In search of an escape, he runs through the light and emerges in the year 2020 with incredible physical strength, enhanced senses,the ability to communicate with animals, and futuristic weapons. Realizing he now lives in a world where all men and women are said to be free but are not treated equally Jomo learns to use his powers to fight racism and stand up for those who have been taken advantage of by people who believe their money or power grants them privilege.
