Book Text:

RICK THE ROAD ROLLER is at the construction site today.
He helps his friends by making surfaces SMOOTH and SAFE to drive on.
"Without Rick, vehicles would have a very bumpy ride."
Rick can flatten soil, sand, concrete, tarmac or even gravel. CRUSH
Meanwhile, CELIA THE CEMENT MIXER is filling a deep hole with concrete. SPLODGE
When concrete dries it turns ROCK HARD and is great for building on.
OH DEAR. Rick is headed straight for the wet concrete.
He drives STRAGHT into it! SPLAT
Now he's STUCK!
"We're going to have to ask Helen the Helicopter to get him out."
A hole in the floor opens up...
...and HELEN THE HELICOPTER comes flying out. WHIRRRR
The garage roof opens and Helen WHIZZES out.
WHIZZ
WOOO
Helen lowers a magnet...
...and LIFTS Rick off the ground.
The concrete has dried and is stuck with him.
Helen brings Rick back to GECKO'S GARAGE.
It's up to the MECHANCIALS to help him out. BLEEP
The Mechanicals drill and drill... DRRR DRRR DRRR
...and create lots of MUCK.
Now RICK THE ROAD ROLLER is no longer stuck.
"Let's go outside and test everything is okay with your roller."
The Mechanicals bring out some shapes for Rick to CRUSH.
Rick gets ready to use his roller.
The first shape is a a SPHERE.
Rick rolls it flat and then we find... CRUNCH
...A CIRCLE has been left behind. Circle
The second shape is a PYRAMID.
Rick rolls it flat and now we've found...
...A TRIANGLE left on the ground.
This next one has six faces all the same.
A CUBE is it's name.
Rick rolls it flat and now down there...SQUASH
...We have a perfect flattened SQUARE.
The final one to be destroyed...
...A shoebox shape, it's a CUBOID.
Rick pushes down, the shape is mangled...SPLAT
...Now we have a flat RECTANGLE.
"Very impressive Rick. It looks like you're back to your old self again."
RICK THE ROAD ROLLER happily trundles on back to the construction site, ready for another busy day.
