Jamie Ellis is usually a happy-go-lucky 12 year old but lately his life is the pits! He's got problems with school bullies while Mr Leachy, Jamie's nasty new maths teacher, has discovered his lack of ability in maths. To make matters worse, Jamie's mum's new live-in boyfriend, Derek, who had been nice when he first moved in, is now giving Jamie a hard time at home. Just when Jamie's life seems to be at its lowest point, something totally amazing happens. He meets a scruffy little lost dog called Joey who just happens to have wizardy powers and who can speak to Jamie (in a strong cockney accent!) Joey, although a little impatient with Jamie at times, has an amazing effect on Jamie's life. One by one Jamie finds his problems disappearing as Joey uses his off-beat magic to sort out the bad guys, usually with loads of hilarity for Jamie and his two best mates, Gwinny and Arnie. Living with a little dog wizard is great; life for Jamie and his mum, as well as Gwinny and Arnie, couldn't be better. But Joey's past life is catching up with him. Someone with equal powers to those of Joey has been tracking him across the galaxies and is getting close. A nervous Joey discovers the calming effects of alcohol but when he overdoes it a drunken and mischievous Joey sends the three friends on wild adventures through time and space. They get chased by dinosaurs, kidnapped by man-eating Cyclops, battle with skeleton warriors, fight a fire-breathing dragon and finally they take part in a Wild-West Shoot-Out where our three heroes are gunned down. The lady wizard, who has pursued the fugitive Joey across galaxies, is the only one who can save the trio from an early trip to heaven!
