Skeeter and the Pumpkin Patch

Paperback (America Star Books Nov. 28, 2011)
My story about Skeeter is based on my grandson who, at the beginning, was five years old. I went to live with him and his parents in Kentucky. I was keenly aware of my own children's idiosyncrasies and watching my grandson on a daily basis I saw the little Currmies going around in his head. How little children get to be heard, seen in action, and how they find ways to get adults to notice them can be tricky but I think children are so remarkable and they say and do funny things. The Currmies are thoughts that go around in the heads of children! Currmies are short for Curmudgeons. Curmudgeons are irritable and grouchy by definition; in children they can be irritable and funny at the same time. Children can look grouchy just before they break out in laughter! My stories are based on factual incidents I didn't elaborate on because I wanted the stories to be read by children and see themselves in Skeeter. Children should speak up and not be afraid to just be themselves! The Currmies talk to children in their head and children do respond. Right, wrong, good, bad, yes, and no. Since children are in the learning process; especially pre-school they are never sure what is right or wrong but they can relate to the positive and negative in their lives, with a little help from the Currmies it can be fun!
