Emma has begun to embrace her destiny as the Second Elite, but her troubles are far from over. Excidian and Gelida have conquered most of Tempora, and Diabolian is an ever-lurking threat. The most obvious answer is to ally with a now deposed Delitor, but it's a dangerous chance to take, and he might not live long enough to help.

Delitor has been overthrown. His Temporan power has been reduced to almost nothing, and his life hangs in the balance. He now must face his bitterness toward God for both the present, and the past, or Tempora is doomed.

Emma tries to believe that God will provide for her, but her fear keeps intruding. Delitor needs to reform, but he still wants revenge against his enemies. Can Emma make peace with the future? Will Delitor live and make peace with the past?
