James served as assistant coach at Eastfield and Navarro College for four years. During his tenure at Navarro from 1990 through 1991, the team had a record of 24-7, won the conference championship and went on to set the highest scoring record in junior college history, averaging 149.5 points per game during pre-season and 116.1 points per game during conference with the help of his individual workout program. During his three years at Eastfield College where he was also in charge of players individual workouts. The team won the conference championship and advanced to the national tournament each of his three years. James' experience includes winning the 1988 division 2 National Championship with Glenavon basketball team in Europe, coaching college men's and women's professional basketball, youth boy's and girls select teams, college career and academic counselor and community liaison for the Richardson ISD in Texas. He now serves as C.E.O. of J.E.B. Basketball School at the Salvation Army gym in Mckinney, Texas.
