Püppchen

Püppchen, the cat, loves to visit favorite places in his German town. His simple encounters at cafes, castles, butcher shops, markets and parks invite readers of all ages to enjoy their own favorite places and keep finding new ones. Püppchen's creator, Ellen Shear, has made a career and life around her interests in the arts, education, enterprise, the natural world and family. She wrote and illustrated Püppchen in 1973 for a creative project in a German Language teaching course. Her instructor's grade - A - and enthusiastic comments ("both my children enjoyed it and you should try to publish it") are still paper-clipped to the back of the original book. Recently, the former librarian and German teacher found the original Püppchen book in a box in her basement and shared it with her niece, who published it to share with family and friends. So, here is Püppchen - straight from Ellen Shear's felt tip pen and imagination. Will he turn up in any other cities or towns? Maybe yours?
