The Gully of Bluemansdyke: and Other Stories

In South Australia, when a horse returns to town without its rider, the young miner Maurice Broadhurst, and with bloodstains on the mount, the villagers conclude that the young miner has been shot. The troopers decide to form an expedition to rescue the miner and punish the murderers. After several days of travelling the bush to the Bluemansdyke, they stumble upon an open mass grave containing a lot of corpses, some very new.
