Despite political and social upheavals in Africa, Dr Goodal has spent the last 30 years observing and researching the Gombe chimpanzees. She shows how chimpanzees have unique personalities and develop complex psychological, social and political relationships with one another. Biologically only 1% different to humans, the Gombe chimpanzees show remarkably human emotional characteristics, as this book describes.
