She was the only daughter of the 9th Earl Of Lindsey, a General in the Guards, who, at the age of 65, had in the year 1809, married, en secondes noces, Miss Charlotte Layard, daughter of the Dean of Bristol. When my mother was born her father was 68, and he died in 1818 when she was six years old. Three years after his death his widow married her first cousin, the Rev. Peter Pegus, couse quently my mother was then barely nine.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
