How important is knowledge?

Knowledge is the key to success in all areas of your life. Even if you're born with a tremendous amount of potential, you still need the knowledge to fine-tune, hone, and polish that raw potential so you can truly perform. At the very least, you need the knowledge that with practice, you can become an expert at something. Contrary to popular belief, knowledge is not just an external piece of information that you only need to pick up. If it only were that easy.

Knowledge also involves critical thinking because there is a lot of information out there and the majority is not what you think. A lot of facts can be twisted, manipulated, and even warped to fit some sort of narrative or agenda. Knowledge involves the ability to detect patterns in the pieces of information that you're picking up. You can see what fits. You can also detect the different kinds of directions and conclusions you can go with the same set of information.

This is the essence of critical thinking. You're able to connect the dots not only to fit what you think you already know but to also understand what other possibilities may exist out there. This is crucial to decision making. In this book, I'm going to step you through a solid understanding of what power is and its relationship to knowledge. You'll also get a good grounding on the positive and negative sides of power and its different types.

By understanding how power works, I'm going to guide you on how you can use this newfound knowledge of power's inner workings in your day to day life. Finally, I'm going to talk about how your understanding of the connection between knowledge and power can lead to lifelong learning and by extension lifelong power.
