Familiar Letters by the Rev. Robert Murray M'Cheyne: Annotated

Robert Murray M'Cheyne was a minister of the gospel, a poet, and a man of letters. He was also a man of deep piety devoted to prayer. The life of Robert Murray M’Cheyne was short as was his ministry: six years and four months! He was only 30 when he died. Although his life and work was short, his influence has been long. In 1839, he was selected, along with his friend, Andrew Bonar, to be a member of the committee sent to Palestine by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland to collect information respecting the Jews. These are the letters he wrote during this trip. Even if one is not interested in the spirituality of this great man of God, one will be entertained by these letters, which read like an interesting travel magazine.
