The owner of the riding stable is critically ill after a car accident and all the horses are to be sent to auction.
‘But don’t you see?’ said Noola, a 25 year old Welsh cob. ‘No one will want the older ones. It will be the end of the line for us.’
The seriousness of the situation hit home as a shiver of fear ran round the barn.
Carrie and Sadie looked at each other. They had no idea how, but they knew they had to save the horses. The first step – and it had to be that night – was to help them escape.
“But where can we go?” Carrie asked.
“There is a place in Wales,” said Noola. “The little farm in the hills where I was born. But it’s hundreds of miles away . . .”
“Never mind,” said Sadie. “We’ll find it somehow. That’s it then, Wales it is.”
