You May Call Me Sarah

In this first novel of the Berryville Girls series, Sarah Parker, a bright and witty sixth grader with a strong sense of values, enters the Berryville School for Girls. She is on scholarship, and her classmates soon begin taunting her because she is from a working class family.

Sarah shortly meets Teddy, a shy classmate with a mysterious background, and together they discover that things at the school are not always as they seem. In a book full of suspense, adventure, and mystery, Sarah proves her cleverness and her loyalty to her friend in a triumphant finale that brings both girls to a new understanding of the importance of family.

Preteens will find positive role models in Sarah and Teddy, and will want to read more about their adventures. They'll be able to do that soon, when the second book in the Berryville Girls Series is released.
