When you go owling, you don’t need words, or warm, or anything but hope. That’s what Pa says.
Jane Yolen, Owl Moon
This lyrical story is centered around a father and daughter who spend the night out into the snow-covered forest to look for owls. It showcases the bond a father and daughter can have through shared activities. It will trigger childhood memories as you read through the story, and also call to mind simpler times -- or at least the importance of slowing down and enjoying things like the outdoors together with loved ones. The beautiful illustrations set a wonderful backdrop to the narrative. Overall it's a sweet and calm book that would be great for parents to read to children of all ages as a bedtime story on this special day.
