"The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives. She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad. She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling. She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English village."
Roald Dahl , Matilda
In this novel, Matilda is a 5-year-old girl who loves reading and has the gift of telekinesis, but her parents think she's just a nuisance. She expects school to be different. But there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a kid-hating terror of a headmistress. It’s a book about standing up against bullies. When Matilda is attacked by the Trunchbull she fight back bravely. It’s also a book about learning to live with yourself, about being who you are despite the pressures those who are supposed to love you may exert on your personality. It’s a book written for readers and one that establishes so firmly why reading is so important in our mental world.  Matilda is definitely an enjoyable read!
