It's winter. The Vermont woods are covered with thick white snow. Black Bear Baby's den is dark and warm, beneath the roots of an old pine tree.
When spring comes, his mother leads him and his sister out into the sunlight where they romp and tumble and somersault. In summer they eat grubs and beetles and grasshoppers. But their favorite treat is sticky sweet honey from high up in a bee tree.
