The Cooperative Admissions Examination Program (COOP) and the High School Placement Test (HSPT) are two of the most common tests required for admission to many Catholic High Schools. The COOP consists of 10 units testing students in mathematics, reading and comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and spelling. It is given each year in October or November to eighth-graders seeking admission to specific Catholic high schools within the Archdiocese of Newark and Paterson, New Jersey.
