Edward Ardizzone
Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain
Hardcover
(Oxford University Press March 15, 1958)
This famous picture-story book that delighted children when it was originally published in 1935, and set the standard of the subsequent Tim books, remains one of the most endearing of them all. In 1955, when Edward Ardizzone completely redrew and redesigned (with added text) the first edition of this classic, the New York Herald Tribune wrote: "It is a perfect picture book to read to any small boy, with Tim making himself useful to all on board, facing bravely the great storm, and coming home in the life boat. The bright colors are well presented. Tim starts gayly on a new, long lease of life, ready for many homes and libraries that do ot know the first book."
