( April 24, 2013)
The year 1932 is coming to a close and 13-year-old Margy Stratton is eagerly looking forward to the holidays. She is happy in her adopted town of Bancroft, Ontario, living with her two aunts and surrounded by her friends.
But it all suddenly turns to ashes when Margy is wrongly accused of theft. Since she is the newcomer to the small town suspicion is quick to take hold, and Margy is broken-hearted to find herself a social outcast.
During her "Lonely Time" Margy can't help but have some adventures of her own, including a disasterous summer job at a country inn, an incognito submission to a craft contest, and a thrilling encounter with a real movie star.
But through it all Margy struggles against the cloud that hangs over her name, and with the difficult decision she faces when she has a chance to clear it.
This book is the second in the Margy Series, following "Margy" and preceding "Margy on the Move". It was short-listed for the "Silver Birch Award" (Readers' Choice) in the year of its publication.
