Hi! I'm Bugs.

language ( Nov. 27, 2014)
BUGS IS A SPHYNX CAT WITH A BIG PERSONALITY. Every child loves animals, and every child is interested in something a little bit different. Bugs is hairless, has great big ears, a tail like a monkey’s, and---in his way—Bugs is a special needs cat. In order to be a comfortable, happy cat, he needs more attention than the average cat. Often Bugs is thought to be a dog. Some people think he looks a lot like a Chihuahua, probably because of the big eyes and big ears! Bugs doesn't think he looks like a dog, of course. But, for a cat, he is exceptionally smart, and he does have traits that are very dog-like. When is the last time your cat played catch? Or come to a whistle? . . . . . Besides just being a delightful picture book that any child would love, this book also seamlessly incorporates some of the basic things a child should know, and not in a preachy way. In this book, told by Bugs, himself, anthropomorphic language has the cat talking directly to the child about things like the importance of apologizing, families, and friendship.
Bugs also introduces his friend FreddyCat, who is a writerly sort of cat who will soon be coming to you with chapter books featuring himself, of course, and his friend, Bugs.
