Gone Dog

eBook ( April 22, 2018)
Gone Dog is a canine coming-of-age tale, a (mostly) lighthearted story for animal lovers of all ages. Puppins, a rescued black Labrador retriever, is a teenager (in human years). His adoptive mom has way too many rules, and she’s too busy to give Puppins the attention he deserves. He is a closet nerd, a consumer of too much people food, and he’s bored. Where’s the drama that Los Angeles is famous for?

Along comes Ruby, a gorgeous Irish setter. Ruby has no use for rules or owners. She lives on the backstreets of L.A., and she is all about being free. If Puppins wasn’t such a wuss, he’d jump the fence and run off with her, says Ruby. So, he does.

Bad choice.

In the course of a twisted odyssey, Puppins gets ghosted, has an uncool meltdown, and narrowly escapes death. Then some truths emerge: Being homeless is harsh, no matter what species you are; and animals and good people, working together, can take down evil.

Ultimately, Puppins has three universal teenage questions to resolve: Who am I? Where do I belong? and, What’s for dinner?

Among Gone Dog’s diverse characters are a pranking feral cat; a disabled puppy mill survivor; a tribe of strays led by a runaway greyhound; a penitent Rottweiler seeking redemption; and a flock of undocumented immigrant parakeets. Note: The people in Puppins’ life are equally eclectic!
