The Virus: A Children's Story

COVID-19, a type of coronavirus, is the virus responsible for the 2019-2020 pandemic, however, many varieties of coronavirus have been known for decades to cause symptoms attributable to the common cold.A great many different rhinoviruses cause common colds as well. Viruses such as influenza typically cause symptoms of the flu. While common causes of croup in childhood can be due to adenoviruses, parainfluenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). "The Virus" is a children's story that teaches what a virus is. From its building blocks of atoms and molecules to their disastrous effect on our cells, there are lessons to be learned at this early age, which can have a great significance in our world. The book's intent is not to scare children, but to educate them by introducing easy to follow scientific concepts. Essentially, they will learn the reason behind washing hands and covering our mouth when we sneeze and cough.
